What is Stroke? | What is Brain Stroke?
Stroke is a disease in which blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrition to the brain either burst or get blocked. Even for a short time if the brain doesn’t get sufficient oxygen, then it can lead to the death of the person. The brain needs nearly 20% of oxygen from the blood for its normal functioning. Apart from that brain controls various body functions. If the blood supply stops in the brain in any particular area, then the body part which is controlled by that part of the brain where oxygen supply is less, the individual body part will also stop working which is known as paralysis. The blood supply which carries oxygen to the brain is produced by the heart and there are three main reasons for not supplying blood to the brain which includes less pumping of blood in the heart, thin arteries and formation of blood clots.

स्ट्रोक एक ऐसी बीमारी है जिसमें ऑक्सीजन और पोषण ले जाने वाली रक्त वाहिकाएं या तो फट जाती हैं या अवरुद्ध हो जाती हैं। अगर थोड़े समय के लिए भी मस्तिष्क को पर्याप्त ऑक्सीजन नहीं मिलती है, तो यह व्यक्ति की मृत्यु का कारण बन सकता है। मस्तिष्क के सामान्य कार्य के लिए लगभग 20% ऑक्सीजन की आवश्यकता होती है जो रक्त से प्राप्त होती है। इसके अलावा, मस्तिष्क विभिन्न शारीरिक कार्यों को नियंत्रित करता है। अगर मस्तिष्क के किसी विशेष क्षेत्र में रक्त की आपूर्ति रुक जाती है, तो उस क्षेत्र द्वारा नियंत्रित शरीर का हिस्सा भी काम करना बंद कर देता है जिसे पैरालिसिस कहा जाता है। मस्तिष्क को ऑक्सीजन ले जाने वाली रक्त की आपूर्ति हृदय द्वारा की जाती है और मस्तिष्क को रक्त की आपूर्ति न होने के तीन मुख्य कारण होते हैं जिनमें हृदय में रक्त का कम पंप होना, पतली धमनियां और रक्त के थक्कों का निर्माण शामिल है।
